A man is being treated for injuries after he was thrown into the air when his jet ski exploded in northern Minnesota.
The incident happened Friday at 10:25 a.m. at Holt Lake, near Garrison, where police were told there had been a PWC (personal watercraft) explosion.
When they got there, witnesses said the 46-year-old man had been sitting on the watercraft and attempting to start it.
But police say gasoline fumes then ignited and the jet ski exploded, throwing the man into the air, landing a distance away in the water.
Fortunately he was wearing a lifejacket, and was able to swim to a nearby dock, where he was helped to shore.
The extent of his injuries is unknown. He was taken to the Mille Lacs Health Systems in Onamia.
