"Mad Men" star and Minnesota native Vincent Kartheiser was into advertising long before the hit show. As a teen, he appeared in an early 1990s commercial for the Pioneer Press (below). He plays the sullen walkman-toting son of a hapless dad who is trying to appear cool – with the help of the newspaper and its staff.

Minneapolis-born Kartheiser now plays ad exec Pete Campbell in the AMC hit about the glamorous life of the advertising industry in New York, now in its fifth season.

Kartheiser recently said he misses Minnesota and like to find a hideaway here someday, WCCO recently reported.
