A man who is traveling to all 50 states to have a beer in an effort to raise money for cancer research made a stop in Minnesota Saturday, marking the halfway point on his USA Pour Tour by having a pint at Half Time Rec in St. Paul.

Todd Ruggere of Massachusetts raised nearly $100,000 for cancer researching by enjoying a beer in every town in Connecticut and Massachusetts, so he decided to take his tour across the country, his GoFundMe Page notes, with the money he raises in each state staying local.

“Everyone likes to have a beer, everyone hates cancer,” Ruggere said, according to the Kearney Hub. “Maybe it’s the perfect combination.”

Ruggere told BringMeTheNews he raised about $2,500 Saturday, which will go to Regions Hospital Cancer Center.

"It's so cool when people that work at the cancer hospitals come out to have beers with me," Ruggere posted on the USA Pour Tour Facebook page, noting about 10-12 Regions employees joined him at the bar for the event.

The event also included silent auction items, prizes and live music, and Half Time Rec vowed to donate $1 for every pint purchased at the event, the bar said on Facebook.

Ruggere began his 50-state journey on Feb. 7 in Connecticut, New England Brew News reported, and after Saturday's visit he has visited 25 states.
