An Edina bank robbery suspect last month made off with just two $20 bills – not exactly a made-for-Hollywood crime caper. But he did make it to the movies.
Rithwan Ahmed Badel, 24, has been charged with theft after the Dec. 15 TCF Bank robbery in Edina, Patch reports.
Police say Badel is accused of giving the teller a note that demanded money – specifically, $100 bills. But the teller only had $40, so he fled with that, Patch reports.
The man later spent just $7.50 of the stolen cash – on a movie ticket at the Southdale AMC theater. Soon after, he turned himself in to police, Patch reports. Police found him outside the theater. It was not immediately known which movie he bought a ticket for.
A Jan. 14 hearing in Hennepin County District Court has been scheduled.
