Man injured after crashing homemade barstool go-kart in Stearns County

The man sustained significant head injuries.

A man in Stearns County was seriously injured Sunday after losing control of a homemade go-kart.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s office received reports of the go-kart crash at around 3:21 p.m. The crash occurred near the intersection of Maine Street and Birch Street in St. Martin.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, St. Martin Fire and Rescue and Allina Ambulance responded.

Upon arrival, respondents located a man, 56, with significant head injuries lying on Maine Street. He was also complaining of chest and leg pain. 

The man was driving a “homemade, barstool style go-kart” when he lost control. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the incident, according to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.

The man was transported to St. Cloud Hospital by Allina Ambulance.
