A 65-year-old man has died after being shot in his own home after a reported break-in.

The incident was reported around 7:22 p.m. Monday, as officers were called to the 2400 block of Paha Circle on report of a shooting.

Shakopee PD says there was no threat to the general public as a 23-year-old suspect from Minneapolis was taken into custody.

The victim was found with a gunshot wound, and later died at Hennepin County Medical Center.

BMTN does not typically identify suspects until they've been charged, but Shakopee PD says it doesn't believe the shooter and the victim knew each other.

Dispatch audio cited by the Star Tribune says that the victim was shot in the head during a break-in, though police have yet to confirm the report.

The Minneapolis man is being held on suspicion of 2nd-degree murder.

The victim has not yet been identified.
