Man shot dead near bar on St. Paul's University Avenue
Both Minneapolis and St. Paul registered their first homicides of 2020 in the early hours of New Year's Day.
Police in St. Paul are investigating a fatal shooting in St. Paul's Frogtown neighborhood, with officers called to a bar on the 900 block of University Avenue after reports of shots fired around 2 a.m.
When they arrived, they found a man gravely injured in the driver's seat of a vehicle, having suffered a gunshot wound.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this stage, no arrests have been made and no information about a suspect was made available.
It's St. Paul's first homicide of 2020, with 2019 having been the deadliest year in the city for a decade, with 30 homicides.
Minneapolis also registered its first homicide of 2020, with a man dying from a stab wound in the north of the city.
