A man has died after a shooting near the Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis on Saturday evening.
The shooting was reported at 10:13 p.m. on the 600 block of Main Street SE, neear to Father Hennepin Bluff Park.
Police arrived to find a man in his 30s lying outside "gravely injured" with a gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died from his injuries a short time later.
The victim's identity will be released in the coming days by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.
It marks the 40th homicide in Minneapolis so far in 2019, and comes after residents have raised concerns about serious crime in the Marcy-Holmes area after two recent sexual assaults and the fatal stabbing of Minnesota National Guardsman Abdoulaye Cisse last month.
That said, the Star Tribune notes that violent crime rates in the neighborhood has been at its lowest level in years, based on recent crime stats.
