A man is recovering after taking a gunshot to the head outside a landmark St. Paul bar this weekend.

Meanwhile, the gunman appears to still be at large, as police have not yet apprehended a suspect.

The shooting happened early Saturday morning outside Nickel Joint Sports Bar, the Pioneer Press reports.

Apart from the man who was shot in the head, someone was wounded by shrapnel but treated at the scene, WCCO notes.

The station says the gunshot victim, who has not been named, is expected to survive.

Opened in 1905, the Nickel Joint has become a local institution, and according to its website, is "one of the oldest bars in St. Paul."
