Man shot while trying disarm attacker outside Chanhassen movie theater

A 20-year-old man was shot in the parking lot of a movie theater in Chanhassen Thursday night. 

The Carver County Sheriff's Office says it received a 911 call of a shooting in the 500 block of Market Street at 10:30 p.m., with deputies arriving at the scene to find a 20-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. 

The victim was taken by ambulance to Hennepin Healthcare and is expected to survive. 

Detectives learned that the victim met with several males in the parking lot of the Chanhassen Cinema, when one of the men pulled a gun and demanded the victim's money. 

The victim attempted to disarm the attacker and was shot in the leg. 

The suspects fled the scene and remain at large as of Friday morning.
