A 45-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle after his truck stalled on a northern Minnesota road this week.

The deadly collision happened Tuesday around 9:10 p.m. in Itasca County along Hwy. 46 in Alvwood Township, which is approximately 25 miles northeast of Bemidji, or about 50 miles northwest of Grand Rapids.

The Minnesota State Patrol reports that Tommy J. Schultz, of Squaw Lake, Minnesota, was standing near a vehicle that stalled in the southbound lane of Hwy. 46 when he was hit by a GMC Sierra pickup that was traveling south.

Schultz died at the scene, according to the crash report.

Alcohol was not a factor and the 30-year-old Minnesota man driving the Sierra was not injured.
