Man still missing after going under while lake swimming
Search teams have been looking for a man who has gone missing while swimming at Lake George in Anoka County.
The Anoka County Sheriff's Office says it was called to Lake George Beach in Oak Grove after a reported drowning just after noon Saturday.
Deputies learned a 53-year-old man from Oak Grove had removed his life jacket and began swimming near a bat when he began to struggle before going under.
An extensive rescue effort was started, led by the sheriff's office's Marine Unit, with the Minnesota DNR and several local fire departments also assisting.
However, as of a news release issued at 8:30 p.m., the man had not been found, with the search expected to continue until dark before resuming at 7 a.m. Sunday.
Lake George Regional Park is found along the north shore of Lake George, which includes a swimming beach, a picnic pavilion, and a boat launch.
