Man struck by vehicle in Columbia Heights dies

He was hit by a vehicle on Dec. 15 and died Dec. 20, police say.

The victim in a pedestrian-vehicle accident in Columbia Heights last week has died, the Columbia Heights Police Department announced Friday. 

Police identified the victim as Erik Ray Johnstone, 48, of Fridley. He was hit by a vehicle driven by a 21-year-old Chaska woman at approximately 6:50 p.m. on Dec. 15. He suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. 

Sadly, Johnstone died on Thursday. 

The woman driving the vehicle that hit the man cooperated with investigators and showed no signs of impairment. 

The crash remains under investigation.
