An hours-long manhunt in the southwestern Twin Cities area led to the Friday arrest of a Jordan man suspected of shooting his father and his ex-girlfriend.

Authorities said the 39-year-old suspect was arrested without incident on the 300 block of West Second Street in Jordan after a Thursday night shooting in Chaska that left both victims wounded.

The search for the suspect, who has not been charged, started late Thursday when officers were called to a home on the 3600 block of County Road 140 in Chaska, after a report that two people had been shot, the Chaska Police Department said.

Chaska police chief Scott Knight told reporters Friday that officers found Robert Raymond Gilpin, 60, in the front yard of the home with several wounds and discovered Heidi Sue Robling, 29, injured inside the house, KARE 11 reports.

Knight said that on Thursday evening the suspect had dropped off his 4-year-old son with Robling, the boy's mother, while his father waited outside. Investigators are working to piece together what happened just before the shooting, KARE says.

Police said the gunman fled on foot. The Star Tribune notes that the home where the shooting occurred – owned by Robling's parents – sits on 10 acres of mostly wooded land.

Jordan is about 10 miles south of where the shooting occurred.

The suspect was at large at large until shortly before noon Friday. During the manhunt, residents in the search area were urged to remain indoors, with the doors locked.

The Chaska School District said on its website all schools with Eastern Carver County were in precautionary lockdown while the search was ongoing.

Authorities said Gilpin and Robling were hospitalized at Hennepin County Medical Center with injuries that were critical but not life-threatening. Late Friday Robling's father told KARE his daughter had been released and was recovering at home.
