Man's body found near fishing boat in southeast Minnesota

A death investigation is underway in southeast Minnesota after a man's body was found floating in a marsh near a fishing boat, according to the Wabasha County Sheriff's Office. 

The 89-year-old's body was found in the Weaver Bottoms around 7:30 p.m. next to an unoccupied fishing boat that was going in circles in the water. The boat's motor was still running, the sheriff's office said. 

The man's identity won't be released until family members are properly notified. 

According to the DNR, the Weaver Bottoms marshes are approximately 120 miles south of the Twin Cities on HIghway 61.
