Many ways to thank a veteran this weekend

WCCO has a list of Veterans Day celebrations that includes a parade in St. Clouda 5k race Sunday in St. Paul's Como Park, and a march in Duluth.

The Pioneer Press lists events starting Saturday evening in Farmington, where the high school wind ensemble will join the 451st Army Band. On Sunday, an observance will be held at 11 a.m. at the historic Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel. Veterans are asked to wear their uniforms. Refreshments will be served. A musical program will take place in the afternoon.

Visitors to the Mall of America Sunday will be encouraged to write a letter to a service member, a veteran or a military family, according to the Associated Press. That event is sponsored by the American Red Cross, and takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It's part of the seventh annual Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign.

On Monday, the official Minnesota Veteran's Day event takes place in Inver Grove Heights with a free breakfast at the community center and program to follow.
