One person is in custody after their alleged actions prompted an elementary school in Maple Grove to lock down Friday morning.
According to Maple Grove Police Department, officers were called to a residence on the 9000 block of Vinewood Lane at 7:37 a.m. on a report of a domestic disturbance that resulted in a person shooting a gun into the air and fleeing on foot.
The gunshot led Rice Lake Elementary School to go into lockdown for a short time. A notice from the school to families said the lockdown was precautionary and in place for 10 minutes.
"This morning Rice Lake Elementary went into a precautionary lockdown from 7:55 – 8:05 AM. This was on recommendation from the Maple Grove Police department as they cleared a scene at the intersection of 89th and Elm Creek Blvd. This was temporary and the school is safe to resume functioning as normal."
Maple Grove police arrested the suspect a short time after they were called to the scene, and the individual is now in custody at the Maple Grove jail.
There is no threat to the public and no injuries were reported.
