Maple Grove family loses pets in 3-alarm Christmas house fire
A Twin Cities family has been displaced after a devastating fire that broke out late on Christmas night.
The three-alarm blaze occurred around midnight at a home in Maple Grove, bringing out not only local firefighters, but also crews from Rogers, Plymouth, Osseo, Brooklyn Park and St Louis Park.
According to Maple Grove Fire-Rescue, the family living inside escaped uninjured, but the same couldn't be said for their pets, which were sadly lost in the fire.
The family is "being assisted by Red Cross to address shelter and immediate needs," a followup tweet says.
The full extent of the damage to the house is not clear, and the cause of the fire is now being investigated.
Luckily, no firefighters were injured in the blaze.
Minnesota is now in the most dangerous time of the year where house fires are concerned; according to the State Fire Marshal, "most home fires occur in the winter" due to increased use of heaters.
