District officials have placed Maple Grove High School hockey coach Gary Stefano on paid administrative leave, not long after 13 players were suspended for several games because of a separate incident, the Pioneer Press reported.

The district is investigating a complaint against Stefano, district spokeswoman Barb Olson told the Pioneer Press. Olson declined to describe the complaint, the newspaper reported. Stefano told the newspaper, "I am not allowed to comment on the situation at this time."

The school suspended most of the 13 players for two games, and several players for four games, after an incident at a private home last month, but officials will not say what happened.

Assistant Josh Hicks has taken over for Stefano for now, the Pioneer Press reported.
