The home of a trucking business in St. Paul Park has been destroyed in a massive fire on Monday evening.

The fire broke out in the repair shop at Quade & Sons, on the 200 block of Hastings Avenue, at around 4:20 p.m. and quickly spread.

Firefighters from Cottage Grove, Newport, St. Paul Park, Woodbury and Inver Grove Heights all attended the scene, which was just across the road from the St. Paul Park Oil Refinery.

Local residents were told to keep their distance and surrounding roads were shut down.

Explosions could be heard coming from the structure, which the St. Paul Park Fire Department said was caused by tires, not hazardous materials.

There were about six trucks inside the building, which fire departments say was a total loss. Fortunately, nobody was injured in the fire.

There were also delays on nearby Hwy. 61 due to smoke blowing across the road, with the fire creating a plume that could be seen for miles around.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal.
