The St. Louis County chief medical examiner has positively identified the skeletal remains of a man found last month in northeastern Minnesota, Northland's News Center reports.

The ME says Barnabas R. Kalina Jr. was from New York was identified through dental X-rays.

WCCO-TV says Kalina was 56.

Kalina's skeletal remains were found near a mine dump in McKinley in St. Louis County on May 11 by a neighbor walking through the area. St. Louis County authorities believe his remains were there since the fall of 2011.

Personal belongings were found with the remains, including IDs, indicated that it was Kalina. He was never reported missing from any state.

Although the cause of death has not yet been determined, there were apparently no signs of trauma to the remains, the ME says.
