Rich Covin sued and settled with the now-imprisoned teacher, William Jacobs, but also sued Breck claiming the school should have warned him and his family about Jacobs' history of sexual abuse.

Former Elk River high school English teacher Matthew Ellsworth of St. Paul, who admitted to a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student, has been sentenced to five years of probation. He told a judge they could not help falling in love. The girl, who has since turned 18, said, "I want everyone to know that this (prosecution) was not my choice. I was not victimized."

Shattuck-St. Mary's school on Monday was rocked by the news that a former teacher had been charged with sexual misconduct with students. On Tuesday, authorities told MPR that another teacher at the school may have been involved in sexual misconduct, and it is "even more disturbing." That teacher committed suicide in 2008, MPR reports.
