The 400 Bar, long a raucous part of the Minneapolis West Bank music scene, has closed its doors, but it could reopen elsewhere.

The bar's website reads:

"After 17 years of presenting shows, we've closed the old building on the West Bank. Thanks to all the great music fans and artists who've worked so hard to make the 400 what it is. An online auction featuring some of the club's memorabilia starts Friday at 7:00 p.m. on this page."

An Elvis lamp and the cigarette machine will be for sale, the bar said on Twitter.

The historic two-story building has been sold and will likely be turned into a charter school for Somali children, the Star Tribune reported.

When contacted by City Pages, club manager Tom Sullivan said he and his partners hoped to offer live music in a new location, but he didn't say if they'd keep the Bar 400 name.
