Minneapolis police are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect in last weekend's shooting death of a 21-year-old woman.

The Hennepin County Attorney's office has issued an arrest warrant for Ahmed Abdirahim Abdi, 17, who they believe shot and killed Ayan Abdulahi of Bloomington last Saturday in a home on the 2400 block of Portland Avenue South, according to a police department news release.

Abdulahi died from a single gunshot wound to the head, according to the Star Tribune. She was found by police who responded to a call of shots fired at the residence.

Authorities say Abdi is black, with black hair and brown eyes. He is 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs 165 pounds. Abdi has distinctive red and black dog paw tattoos on the backs of his hands – the word “BIG” is on the back of one hand and “DOG” is on the back of the other.

Police also say they believe other people are helping Abdi avoid capture, and say they will "aggressively pursue charges" against anyone who aids or abets him in hiding from law enforcement.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Minneapolis police tip line at 612-692-8477, or send a text to 847 411 (tip 411), enter MPD and the tip.
