Original story
Police in Minneapolis are asking for the public's help locating an abducted boy.
Azherian Smith, just five years old, was taken from his home Monday afternoon by his mother, who currently has no legal parental rights, a news release says:
Police say 24-year-old Latiena LaShaunne Shavell Smith grabbed Azherian from the residence of a family member who has legal custody of him, and then fled the scene in a red 2006 Saturn Ion.
She may have an accomplice, with the release saying the car was being driven by Smith's friend.
The boy was taken in violation of a court order, but police have not specified why Smith lost her parental rights over Azherian.
He was last seen wearing a red jumpsuit; anyone with information on his whereabouts or those of his mother should call 911 immediately.
