Minneapolis police investigating 2 fatal shootings on Sunday night

Police say disputes proceeded both shootings.

The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating two separate fatal shootings that followed disputes on Sunday night.

At 7:52 p.m., Minneapolis police got a ShotSpotter activation on the 1800 block of Glenwood Avenue North. When officers were on their way there, another ShotSpotter activation came in from about a block away, on the 300 block of Morgan Avenue North.

When officers arrived, they found a man believed to be in his 20s in an alley. He had "multiple" gunshot wounds, police said. He was taken to the hospital and died shortly thereafter.

Police believe the victim and at least one suspect got into a dispute inside a business in the area and shots were fired, hitting the victim. The victim then fled on foot and the suspect continued to shoot the victim.

The victim then collapsed and the suspect fled.

A few hours before, police responded to a 911 call at 5:17 p.m. about a person being shot near the 1200 block of Lake Street, in south Minneapolis, to find a man, believed to be in his 30s, in "grave condition" from gunshot wounds.

He was taken to the hospital, where he died a "short time" later, police said. The medical examiner will identify him at a later time.

Police believe a dispute between two or more people preceded the shooting.
