A teenager boy was shot and killed in what the Fridley Police Department is calling a murder.

The shooting happened Thursday just before 5:45 p.m., with 911 callers reporting multiple shots fired in the area of 6100 5th Street Northeast, which is just a couple of blocks west of Fridley High School and Fridley Community Center.

Police arrived to the scene and found a 17-year-old Minneapolis boy with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The victim's identity will be released pending proper notification of family members.
