A Minnesota man died in a drowning accident in northwest Iowa on Saturday.

Anthony Boyenga, 31, of Ellsworth, lost his life in a drowning accident near Rock Valley, Iowa. The city's police department says emergency dispatchers were alerted to the drowning at River's Bend Campground just after 3 p.m.

Boyenga was swimming with his children when he went under and didn't resurface, police say.

Members of the Sioux County Dive Team helped navigate through poor water clarity and recovered Boyenga around 3:50 p.m. Life-saving efforts were made but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Luverne Area Chatter Facebook page, Boyenga leaves behind a wife and five children, including triplets. A GoFundMe campaign for the family has raised more than $7,300 as of Monday afternoon.

Ellsworth is located in Nobles County, just miles from the Minnesota-Iowa border, and about 35 miles northeast of Rock Valley.
