A Burnsville man has been charged with two counts of first-degree controlled substance crimes after the Dakota County Attorney's Office says officials found $400,000 of methamphetamine in his home, KSTP TV reports.

According to a criminal complaint, Albert Morris Johnson, 35, was charged after the Dakota County Drug Task Force allegedly found more than 12 pounds of a controlled substance, which tested positive for methamphetamine. Police also seized three handguns and more than $16,000, authorities said.

The County Attorney's Office said Johnson was convicted of second-degree assault in Sherburne County in 2009, making him ineligible to possess any firearms.

According to the Star Tribune, Dakota County Attorney Jim Backstrom said he will submit the drug and weapons charges to the U.S. Attorney's Office for possible federal charges.

Backstrom added that if Johnson is prosecuted in federal court, the state charges will be dismissed.

Johnson was still in jail as of Friday afternoon with bail set at $1.5 million, or $1 million with conditions.

Johnson is set to appear in court May 20.
