A Minnesota man is dead after falling while rappelling a canyon in Utah on Monday.

Scott Henning, 33, of Delano was rappelling down a cliff into Moonflower Canyon when the fatal fall happened, according to the Grand County Sheriff's Office in Utah.

Henning had hiked with a friend to an area above the canyon and had a problem with a rope when he fell approximately 60 feet to his death.

A rescue helicopter was rushed to the scene where Henning was pronounced dead from his injuries.

The sheriff's office said the terrain made it difficult to get to Henning, his body was not recovered until Tuesday when a Department of Public Safety Helicopter was able to safely lift him out.

Henning's body was transported to a medical examiner's office in Taylorsville, Utah.
