Minnesota man is knocked unconscious by a steer

A man in Stearns County was knocked unconscious after a fall caused by a steer.

Joseph Boeckers, 65, was in the cattle chute area of the Central Livestock Facility in Albany, Minnesota on Tuesday morning when the steer hit a gate.

The impact knocked Boeckers, of Holdingford, backwards, striking his head in a fall that caused him to lose consciousness

By the time that responders arrived, he was awake but confused.

He was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital by air ambulance for further treatment. His current condition is unknown.

Central Livestock is a 95-year-old livestock marketing company that owns and operates livestock markets throughout the Midwest, serving cattle, horse, pig, sheep and goat farmers, its website says.

It runs sales at locations including Albany, Zumbrota and Rock Creek in Minnesota, and West Fargo in North Dakota.
