Minnesota man killed by combine while farming on Iowa border

It happened just south of the Minnesota-Iowa border.

A Minnesota man died in a farming accident on the Iowa border on Tuesday. 

The accident was reported at 9:23 p.m. in a field near the town of Bee, an incorporated community on the Minnesota side of the border.

Sheriff's deputies from Iowa's Allamakee County responded with deputies from Minnesota's Houston County, and arrived to find that a man had been run over by a combine. 

Gerald Oren Myhre, 64, of Caledonia, was run over when the combine was backing up to unload corn into a wagon, the sheriff's office said.

Myhre was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The Allamakee County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation into the accident.
