A Wyoming, Minnesota, man pleaded guilty Thursday to a hit-and-run crash that killed another Wyoming man last June, WCCO reports.

Derek Sanders (pictured, left), 32, pleaded guilty to one count of felony criminal vehicular homicide while under the influence of alcohol in the death of Trevor Langolis (right), 24.

Police say Langolis, an Army veteran, was pulled over on a freeway entrance ramp to Interstate 35 in Hinckley June 17, and was outside of his vehicle when he was struck by Sanders.

Sanders, who told police he had about "half a dozen drinks" on the night of the crash, fled the scene, officials said.

Langolis was brought by emergency crews to a hospital in Duluth, where he died June 22. Investigators reportedly matched debris left at the scene to Sanders, who was found after a tip.

Sanders was arrested and charged later in the month, and released on bail a move that upset Langolis' father, KARE 11 said.

“I can’t believe the court saw fit to give him that kind of bail, that he could easily obtain and be right back out on the street,” Brian Langlois told the station.

WDIO says Sanders is due to be sentenced in late May.
