The snow angel gathering in Duluth wasn't the only event that set out to break a Guinness World Record Saturday.

According to The Associated Press, snowmobile riders who braved the massive snowstorm in New England fell short in their bid to form the world's biggest snowmobile parade, which was set in Minnesota in 2004.

In all, 157 riders gathered in Maine for the event -- far short of the 820 riders who assembled for a 29-mile course in Roseau, Minn., nine years ago to set the world record.

The East Coast storm resulted in more than 30 inches of snow in Rangeley region of Maine, which reportedly prevented many riders from making the trip to try to break the record.

The gathering wasn't a complete, bust, however. The Rangeley Chamber of Commerce organized the event to raise $7,000 for cystic fibrosis research for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Northern New England.

All proceeds will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Northern New England.

Number of bikini marchers in Minnesota parade falls far short of record

Despite protests by city council members, a group of bikini-wearing women -- and a couple of men in bikini tops -- marched in the Paddlefish Days Parade Saturday afternoon in the southern Minnesota town of Madison Lake. About 39 participants took part in the bikini march -- far below the 451 need to break the mark in the Guiness Book of World Records.
