From Twin Cities metro area schools to districts in Bemidji and Duluth, students across Minnesota plan to walkout Monday afternoon in solidarity against racial injustice.

Students at more than 100 schools are hosting their own walkouts, with most starting at 1 p.m. on Monday, according to MN Teen Activists

Student organizers are asking participants to wear all black, noting social distancing and masks will be required.

Many groups are planning speakers or programs for when students walk out, while schools in Minneapolis plan to head to U.S. Bank Stadium before 1:47 p.m. – about the time Wright was pulled over – for a program there. Many are offering live streams so those who can't make it and distance learning students can watch from home.

The walkout comes more than a week after a Brooklyn Center police officer fatally shot Daunte Wright during a traffic stop. The statewide walkout also coincides with closing arguments in Derek Chauvin's murder trial, the former Minneapolis police officer charged in George Floyd's death on May 25, 2020.
