Minnesota trucker killed in collision with train in North Dakota
A 32-year-old Minnesota man is dead following a collision between a truck and a freight train in North Dakota.
The crash happened around 11 a.m. Wednesday in rural Traill County, with the North Dakota Highway Patrol reporting that the trucker was traveling east on Traill County Township Road when he failed to yield at the train crossing.
The 2004 Mack straight truck was struck on the passenger side by the BNSF train. The Minnesota man, from Dilworth, was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.
Authorities do not know why the trucker didn't yield at the crossing, as the intersection was properly marked with railroad signs and a yield sign.
Two people on the train were not injured.
The trucker's identity is expected to be released at some point Thursday.
