An 83-year-old Sanborn woman was killed and six others suffered injuries in a crash Wednesday.
The woman was one of four occupants in a Honda Odyssey headed northbound on 135th Street Northwest in Kandiyohi County late that morning, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Around 11:23 a.m., the Odyssey crossed into the intersection with U.S. Highway 12 in Mamre Township, about 8 miles northwest of Willmar. There, it collided with a Kia Spectra heading westbound on the highway.
The 84-year-old driver of the Odyssey, Fredrick Berg of Sanborn, was taken to Rice Memorial with non-life-threatening injuries. As were two other passengers — Irene Mathiowetz, 83, and Robert Mathiowetz, 88, both of Sleepy Eye.
The name of the woman who died has not been released by the State Patrol.
The driver of the Spectra, 22-year-old Rae Ann Lynn Baker from Redwood Falls, and two passengers: Thomas Zempel, 20, of Mankato, and a 17-year-old from Redwood Falls, were transported to Rice Memorial in Willmar with noncritical injuries.
The State Patrol says alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the wreck.
