The ninth permanent community vaccination clinic in Minnesota is opening this week in Lino Lakes, joining permanent clinics located in Minneapolis, Duluth, Rochester, Bloomington, St. Paul, St. Cloud, Mankato and Oakdale.

The COVID-19 vaccine is available at all of the vaccination sites, with the one in Lino Lakes inside the former YMCA building at 7690 Village Dr. The two-dose Pfizer vaccine will be available at the Lino Lakes facility.

All Minnesotans over the age of 16 have been eligible for the vaccine since Mar. 30, though healthcare groups are still prioritizing persons aged 65 and older, essential workers and those with underlying health conditions. That said, there are hundreds of examples of everyday Minnesotans getting vaccinated without much issue.

Anyone interested in getting a vaccine – health officials strongly recommend it to ward off the potential of spreading the virus or becoming ill from it, especially now that the B.1.1.7 strain of the coronavirus is circulating in Minnesota – should sign up for the Minnesota COVID-19 Vaccine Connector

The Vaccine Connector will notify people about vaccine appointment opportunities.

“The state’s expansive network to bring vaccines directly to Minnesotans in their communities continues to grow. Our Community Vaccine Program remains a key component of this life-saving network,” said Governor Walz in a release. “The community vaccination sites are getting shots into arms safely and efficiently, and this new site in Lino Lakes will help us reach more Minnesotans 16 years and older.”

Through April 6, the state reported that 1,900,248 people have received at least 1 dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while 1,247,045 people have completed their vaccine series.

Forty-three percent of Minnesotans aged 16-plus have received at least one shot, while 83% of the age-65-plus population has had at least one dose of a vaccine. Overall, 34% of the state's population has had at least one dose.
