Missing 4-year-old girl found after late night search
A disappearance of a 4-year-old girl sparked a massive response in a southeast Minnesota town Tuesday night, who turned out in droves to search for her.
Fortunately the girl was found safe, but not before an hours-long search that saw more than 150 volunteers and six different agencies – including a State Patrol helicopter and drones – help to find her.
As KSTP reports, the girl went missing from her home near Kenyon, Minnesota just after 6:30 p.m., when she was playing in the yard with her father and brother before chasing a cat into the cornfield.
Volunteers combed the fields near the house but concerns grew as the hours past without her being found.
At 2 a.m., around seven hours after going missing, she was found by a family member who was searching along a road when the girl walked out of a ditch.
Addressing the volunteers after the girl was found, Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn said: "Words can't say enough how much I appreciate you all being here tonight.
"Thank god we got a good resolution."
"She has been checked out, she's smiling, she's just mad she lost the cat," he added.
