Missing 5-year-old dies after being found in Burnsville pool

A young boy reported missing Wednesday afternoon later died after being pulled from a pool.

The Burnsville Police Department received a report about a missing 5-year-old around 5:02 p.m. on May 26, Captain Matt Smith told Bring Me The News. About 40 minutes later, someone reported a child in a pool on the 15000 block of Greenhaven Lane.

Responders to the scene found the 5-year-old in the pool, and identified him as the boy who had been reported missing. The boy was taken to Regions Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Smith said. 

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office is investigating.

The boy's name has not been released.
