Missing Minnesota man's body found downstream from submerged vehicle

The Buffalo Lake man was reported missing on Tuesday.

The body of 24-year-old Adam Michael Rein of Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, was found Saturday downstream from the drainage ditch near Hector, Minnesota, that his vehicle was found in on Thursday. 

Renville County authorities say the man's cause of death will be determined after review by the medical examiner.

An extensive search for a man reported missing on Tuesday led to the discovery of his vehicle submerged in a drainage ditch on Thursday. 

Still, there have been no signs of Adam Michael Rein, 24, of Buffalo Lake – a small town along Hwy. 212 about 60 miles west of Eden Prairie. 

Authorities say Rein was last seen around 11 p.m. on July 2 in nearby Hector, Minnesota. He was officially reported missing at 6:07 p.m. July 3.

At 7:26 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, the Renville County Sheriff's Office learned of a vehicle that was submerged in water in a drainage ditch northeast of Hector in Hector Township. 

The vehicle was empty but authorities determined that it belonged to Rein, saying that it appeared to have gone off the road on 800th Ave. near Renville County Road 22.
