Missing Superior man's body found in Wisconsin river

A man reported missing from Superior, Wisconsin, last week was found dead Sunday afternoon in a river. 

The body of Anthony Puckett, Sr., 40, was discovered in the Middle River about a mile south of the mouth at Lake Superior, about two miles downstream from the Lakeside, Wisconsin, residence he was last seen leaving on foot the night of Saturday, April 20. 

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office reports that Puckett's body was recovered around 4:15 p.m. by members of the Lakeside Volunteer Fire Department, who were kayaking the river and searching the banks after water levels receded.   

Puckett was reported missing late Monday, April 22, resulting in an extensive ground search over the ensuing six days. 

Puckett's death remains under investigation by local authorities and a medical examiner will determine his official cause of death.
