A suspicious death investigation in Shoreview has changed to a homicide investigation Friday, according to the Ramsey County Sheriff’s office.

WCCO reports authorities say a man found slumped over outside of a building died of an apparent gunshot wound on early Thursday morning. The man is described as described as African American in his late 20s or early 30s,

The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension were investigating after the body of a man was found in the 5700 block of Hamline Avenue N. in Shoreview Thursday morning

Twin Cities media outlets earlier had conflicting reports as to what happened. Here are a few:

The Star Tribune says a deputy responded to a call of someone "slumped over" against a building. Public Information Officer Randy Gustafson told the newspaper that a man, who has not been identified, appeared to have died of "suspicious circumstances."

The Shoreview Press is reporting the death appears "intentional," while WCCO said the man died of a gunshot wound and authorities point to a possible suicide.

KSTP also rules the death "suspicious."

All can agree that authorities have determined there's no threat to the public.
