Minnesota GOP leaders are asking help finding the person they say sexually assaulted one of their volunteers at the State Fair.

The alleged incident took place Friday night at the Republican Party's booth on Carnes Avenue.

Per KARE 11, the victim, an unidentified woman, reported being groped by another woman after a "verbal disagreement regarding political affiliation."

A State Fair police spokesperson confirmed they'd received a report of a volunteer being groped "over the clothes."

The perpetrator is described as a white woman in her 30s, brunette and 5 feet 4 inches tall.

MN GOP chair Jennifer Carnahan has claimed that the assailant was a Democrat, but as the Star Tribune points out, this has not been backed up with evidence yet.

The paper adds notes that the DFL "condemns [assault] in the strongest possible terms."

In a followup tweet issued Saturday afternoon, Carnahan made an appeal to the public for help finding the suspect:

State Fair Police are investigating. Anyone who knows something about the incident is asked to call them 651-288-4500.
