More than 3,700 buy health coverage through MNsure

Out of 12,000 Minnesotans with MNsure accounts, nearly a third -- 3,769 -- have purchased health coverage or are waiting for their payments to process, the Associated Press reports.

Officials with the state-run health exchange say another 1,800 have completed the application process but have not yet chosen an insurer and 355 small businesses have opened accounts.

MNsure launched its website just over two weeks ago, meeting the Oct. 1 deadline created by the federal Affordable Care Act. More than 34,000 people have visited the site.

Minnesota Public Radio reported mixed reviews of the exchange from many organizations, including the Hennepin County Human Services Department and Open Cities Health Center in St. Paul.

A registered nurse with Open Cities told MPR that she encountered difficulties creating a MNsure account, which appears to be a recurring issue.

Exchange officials are still working on problem areas, including some missing features such as how to find hospitals, clinics and physicians that are covered by each plan.
