Mom pleads guilty to giving 12-year-old daughter heroin
A 37-year-old woman has pleaded guilty to allegations that she gave her 12-year-old daughter heroin and marijuana regularly for about three weeks last fall.
Rebecca Rachelle Hill pleaded guilty to second-degree controlled substance crime, WCCO reported. Charges of child endangerment, motor vehicle theft and false information to police were being dropped, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said in a news release.
According to the criminal complaint, Hill was initially arrested in connection with a shoplifting allegation at the Mall of America in October 2012, and her daughter was allowed to say with her grandmother.
The next day, the girl’s father told police he had taken her to the hospital because she was suffering withdrawal symptoms, the complaint said.
The girl is continuing with treatment and living with her father and stepmother. Hill is expected to be sentenced on Feb. 12 to four years in prison.
