A Monticello woman was found dead just hours after being reported missing on Tuesday.

The Wright County Sheriff's Office reported Tanisha Maehling, 39, missing Tuesday morning, and her body was found around 2:30 p.m.

Authorities discovered Maehling's body in a vehicle nearly submerged in the Crow River, close to the 2500 block of County Road 12 South in Marysville Township, about 30 miles west of Maple Grove.

Her cause of death will be announced at a later date by a medical examiner. It's unclear how her vehicle wound up in the river.

Maehling hadn't contacted her family since Saturday evening in the Montrose area, which the sheriff's office said was out of character for her, noting that they were increasingly worried because she had health concerns.
