Two teenage brothers from Moorhead have been killed in a rollover crash on their way to a basketball camp in Wisconsin.

The Minnesota State Patrol reports that a Dodge Ram pickup truck carrying four teenagers struck the shoulder on eastbound Interstate 94 near Fergus Falls at around 9:10 a.m. Tuesday, before rolling over into the median and landing in the westbound lane.

Killed in the crash were brothers Zachary Kvalvog, 18 – the driver – and his 14-year-old brother Connor, both of Moorhead.

Jimmy Schwandt, a 17-year-old from Moorhead, and 18-year-old Jimmy Morton, originally of Jackson, Mississippi, were both injured in the crash, the latter seriously.

According to the Star Tribune, the four were students of Moorhead Park Christian School and were driving to attend a basketball camp in the Wisconsin Dells area.

Boys' basketball coach Josh Lee told The Fargo Forum he had spoken to the boys just before they headed out on their trip.

"We were just talking and joking 45 minutes before the accident," he said. “Connor gave his goofy, little smile. It doesn’t feel real at this point."

Connor Kvalvog had just finished seventh grade, the newspaper notes, while Zach had just finished his junior year and had played as the starting point guard for the Park Christian Falcons since he was a freshman – scoring more than 1,000 points and leading his team to state in his sophomore year. He was also the school's starting quarterback.

Countless tributes have been paid to the brothers on social media, including a message on the school's Twitter page that said: "Our school's heart aches today."

A prayer service for the Kvalvogs will be held at the school at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Another will be held at the Lighthouse Church at 21 9th St. S., in Fargo, where the Kvalvogs attend, at 6:30 p.m.

Park Christian is a private Evangelical Christian school with around 400 K-12 students.
