Moorhead High School yearbooks go to presses with spelling error

Students at Moorhead High School who received 2013 yearbooks this week were surprised to see a major spelling mistake smack dab on the front cover.

The Fargo Forum says a school adviser, two classes of students and Jostens, the yearbook publisher, approved the books for printing with the name of their city and school spelled incorrectly: "Moorehead."

"Multiple student editors and the advisor proofed the yearbook, which is a student-produced publication, but the mistake was not caught," the school said in a statement. "Moorhead High School regrets that the error happened."

Hundreds of yearbooks that run more than $50 a piece were issued to students with the misspelling.

"I thought it was a joke at first," senior Kayla Dalquist told WDAY.

The district says they can't afford to reprint the books, which cost about $20,000 to produce, but are looking at a way to cover up the error. School officials tell the Forum that they're looking at a high-quality adhesive label or sticker as a solution.
