Police in Moorhead are searching for an "armed and dangerous" man suspected of a fatal shooting in North Dakota.
According to the Moorhead Police Department, officials in North Dakota contacted them Tuesday morning to assist in locating 25-year-old Oscar Junior Andujar Ortiz.
Ortiz is wanted by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) in connection to a shooting death in rural Killdeer, North Dakota, which the Forum News Service says happened on Sunday, July 25.
The BCI believes Ortiz would be picked up around the 3600 block of 8th Street South in Moorhead, so officers responded and were believed to have seen Ortiz run west away from the area.
His vehicle was found on Rivershore Drive South and was impounded.
Police used a K9 and a drone team to track him, but he wasn't located.
"It is unknown if Ortiz is still in the area, or if he was picked up at another location," the news release said, noting Ortiz's "female acquaintance" was taken into custody.
He's described as a 5-foot-5 Hispanic man who weighs 160 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans and either a long sleeve blue t-shirt or no shirt.
Police said Ortiz should be considered "armed and dangerous," and anyone who has immediate information about him should call 911.
The Moorhead PD is asking property owners to check their surveillance equipment for Ortiz. Anyone with delayed information is asked to contact the Red River Valley Regional Dispatch Center at 701-451-7660 and ask to speak with a Moorhead supervisor.
